I've been kept very busy gardening over the last few months – though there's not a trowel in sight. How so? Well, my floral borders have been created (mostly) from one raw material: wool.
Before you ask, I don't live on a farm with wayward sheep.
Hard to believe, but what keeps our woolly friends warm can also create the most exquisite, delicate summer flowers – like this felt poppy.
No shrinking violet, this bold poppy has been wetfelted in one piece using merino wool and measures 14cm in diameter at its widest point.
To create the perfect lustrous finish, I've added strands of tussah silk in chocolate and green radiating from the centre.
